These terms govern your use of scarecrew.org and your interactions with Scare Crew Productions, Inc. (“Scare Crew,” “we,” “us”) as a guest or customer of the Trail of Terror. Scare Crew is a nonprofit organization in Wallingford, Connecticut. By using this website, buying a ticket, or attending the event, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

The website

This site shares information about Scare Crew, our charitable donations, press, and volunteer opportunities. Dates, tickets, and the guest experience for our nonprofit event, the Trail of Terror in Wallingford, Connecticut, are published at trailofterror.com.

We may change, suspend, or remove pages, including press releases and donation records, at any time.

Using the site

You may use the site for personal, noncommercial purposes and for legitimate press, donation, and volunteer inquiries. You agree not to:

  • Break the law or infringe someone else’s rights while using the site.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site, its host, or related systems.
  • Interfere with the site, including by introducing malware or overloading it.
  • Copy, scrape, or republish the site in bulk without our written permission.

Information on the site

We prepare donation totals, recipient lists, press releases, and organization history in good faith. They are for general information. They are not legal, tax, financial, or safety advice. Figures and descriptions can become outdated. Confirm anything important with us before you rely on it.

Intellectual property

The text, photographs, graphics, logos, and other materials on this site are owned by Scare Crew or used with permission. Customers of the Trail of Terror

Scare Crew presents the Trail of Terror, an outdoor nonprofit haunted attraction in Wallingford, Connecticut. Buying a ticket or coming to the event creates a customer relationship with Scare Crew. The ticket terms, the posted warnings, and the FAQ on trailofterror.com are part of that visit. Where an event page and these terms both cover the same guest rule, the event page controls for that night, because it is the warning posted at the property and accepted at checkout.

Tickets and guest email

Tickets are sold online only, per person, through ScareTicket. Fees apply. We do not sell general admission at the gate. Your ticket is a revocable license. We may refuse admission and refund the purchase price minus any fees, as stated on the ticket and on the warnings page.

Timed Ticket and VIP sales are final and must be used on the printed date and time. The weather policy on the FAQ is the exception: a closing, rain date, transfer window, or weather refund is handled as that page and the email to ticket holders describe. Unused tickets from a past night, or from a previous year, are not refunded or moved.

The person who buys the tickets accepts the warnings for every guest on the order. Order questions, lost confirmation emails, and requests to change an upcoming date or time go to ticketsales@trailofterror.com. Other guest questions go to info@trailofterror.com. Include your name, email address, and, for an existing order, the order number. A transfer depends on tickets still being available. In September, October, and November a reply can take up to two weeks.

We email ticket holders about the order they bought, including weather closings. If you leave an email address for a sold-out night, we use it to tell you if tickets become available. Details of what we collect are in the Privacy Policy.

At the event

Volunteers and staff admit guests, direct time-slot lines, and give safety instructions. Follow their direction. Entry may include an electronic security screening and an inspection of bags and similar items. Sharp objects, weapons, and illegal items are not allowed. Leave unnecessary articles in your vehicle.

Inside the Trail there is no touching of actors, other guests, or props. Stay on the path. Do not run, smoke, eat, or drink in the Trail, and do not bring outside food or drink past the gates. Put cell phones away in the Trail. Video and flash photography are not allowed in the Trail. Costumes, Halloween masks, and costume makeup are not allowed. Smoking is not allowed past the gates.

We do not admit infants or children under 5. We do not recommend the Trail for children under 10. Guests age 16 and under should come with an adult. You should not enter if you are pregnant, intoxicated, or if a posted condition on the warnings page applies to you, including heart or respiratory conditions, seizures, vertigo, intense phobia, or the special effects listed there: loud sound, strobe lights, fog, darkness, uneven ground, and moving floors. If you are unsure, email info@trailofterror.com before you buy.

A guest who does not follow these rules, or who we believe cannot safely attend, can be refused admission or asked to leave. The Trail takes about 50 to 60 minutes and is outdoors in October. Wear closed-toe shoes you can walk in.

By purchasing a ticket you acknowledge the inherent risk of the attraction and the release printed on the warnings page, which covers Scare Crew, its directors, volunteers, and the landlord, as written there. Read that page before you arrive. It is linked from the ticket and posted at the property.

Press list

If you submit your name and email on the press page, you ask us to send news and press updates. You can unsubscribe at any time by using the link in those messages or by emailing us. Delivery is handled by our mailing service. See the Privacy Policy for how we handle that information.

Volunteering

Volunteer applications and cast updates are submitted on stagefright.scarecrew.org. Sending an application does not guarantee a role. We may accept, decline, or end a volunteer assignment at any time.

Volunteering with the Trail of Terror can involve uneven ground, low light, costumes, makeup, and physical activity. If you are accepted, you are responsible for following the safety direction of Scare Crew staff and for deciding whether a role is appropriate for you. Additional instructions presented during the application or on site are part of your participation.

Third-party sites

This site links to other websites, including social media profiles, YouTube, and charitable organizations. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices. Parking at PNA Park is operated by PNA Park, not by Scare Crew. Questions about a ticket charge or an order record can also involve ScareTicket, the service that processes checkout.

Disclaimer

The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scare Crew disclaims warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Connecticut law, Scare Crew and its directors, officers, and volunteers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising out of your use of scarecrew.org or your inability to use it. Our total liability for a claim related to this website will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars. Claims about attending the Trail of Terror, or about a ticket, follow the ticket warning and waiver. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold harmless Scare Crew and its directors, officers, and volunteers from claims, damages, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of your misuse of the site or your violation of these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page will change when we do. If you continue to use the site after an update, you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in Connecticut are the exclusive venue for disputes arising out of these terms or the site, except that we may seek injunctive relief where needed to protect our intellectual property.

If a provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect.
